FAQ's
Frequently asked questions for Deep tissue massage in Pershore, Worcestershire
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to move easily.
For massage, you'll be appropriately covered with towels throughout the treatment, with only the area being worked on exposed.
Should I eat before a treatment?
Avoid having a very large meal immediately beforehand.
A light meal a couple of hours before your appointment is generally more comfortable.
What should I do after my treatment?
Take things relatively easy for the rest of the day where possible, stay hydrated and pay attention to how your body feels.
If we've done particularly deep work, you may feel some temporary tenderness afterwards.
Can runners and people who train regularly have treatment?
Absolutely.
As a runner and ultra-distance athlete myself, I understand the physical demands of regular training.
Treatments can be adapted around your training, recovery and upcoming events.
Do you treat people who aren't athletes?
Yes.
You don't need to be a runner or particularly active to benefit from this approach.
I work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including desk workers, tradespeople, gym-goers and people dealing with everyday muscular tension.
Do you offer acupuncture?
I'm currently studying Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, but acupuncture isn't currently offered as part of my treatment services.
Where are you based?
CS Deep Tissue Massage is based in Pershore, Worcestershire, in a private and comfortable treatment room.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange.
My cancellation policy applies to late cancellations and missed appointments. You can view the full policy when booking.
BEFORE YOUR FIRST TREATMENT
What is Advanced Raynor Massage?
Advanced Raynor Massage is a whole-body approach to bodywork that looks beyond simply treating the area where you feel tension.
Rather than following a fixed routine, I assess and explore the body as I work, following patterns of tension and considering how different areas may be connected.
Treatments can include deep tissue work, compression, stretching, movement, rhythm and breath depending on what I find.
Is this just another type of deep tissue massage?
Not quite.
Deep tissue techniques are part of how I work, but Advanced Raynor Bodywork isn't simply about applying more pressure.
The focus is on understanding your body, exploring patterns of tension and adapting the treatment to you rather than working through the same routine every time.
Do I need to know what's wrong before I book?
No.
In fact, that's one of the reasons I offer the 45-minute New Client Assessment & Treatment Plan.
We'll talk through what you're experiencing and then I'll assess and explore the body to develop a clearer understanding of where you're holding tension and how I think we should approach your treatment.
What should I book if I'm a new client?
I recommend starting with the 45-minute Assessment & Treatment Plan.
It's designed specifically for new clients and gives us time to properly understand your body before deciding what type and length of treatment would be most appropriate.
If you already know you simply want a standard massage treatment, you can also book a 60, 90 or 120-minute treatment.
Do you only work on the area that hurts?
No.
Where you feel tension isn't necessarily the only area we'll work on.
For example, if you're experiencing lower-back tension, I may also explore your legs and feet. Shoulder tension may lead us towards the arms, hands, neck or jaw.
The treatment develops around what I find rather than following a checklist.
THE TREATMENT
Will the massage be painful?
Not necessarily.
Deep work doesn't have to mean extreme pressure.
I'll adapt the pressure and techniques to you and what we're working on. The aim is to work progressively rather than simply trying to make the treatment as intense as possible.
What happens during my first appointment?
We'll start with a conversation about what you're experiencing, your lifestyle, training or work and what you'd like from the treatment.
I'll then assess and explore the body, using what I find to guide the treatment.
We'll finish by discussing what I've found and what I think would be useful going forward.
How long should I book?
It depends on what you're looking to achieve.
60 minutes — focused work on specific areas.
90 minutes — more time to explore connected areas and work progressively.
2 hours — allows for a more comprehensive treatment and deeper excavation where appropriate.
3 hours — Deep Excavation — the most extensive treatment I offer, allowing significantly more time to explore the body in depth.
For new clients, I recommend starting with the 45-minute Assessment & Treatment Plan.
What is the Deep Excavation?
The Deep Excavation is my most extensive treatment.
It's available to returning clients who already understand my approach and want significantly more time to explore and work through patterns of tension.
It can be booked as either a 2-hour or 3-hour treatment, depending on how much time you want to dedicate to the session.
Three hours doesn't mean three hours of maximum pressure. It's about having the time to slow down, explore properly and work progressively.
How many treatments will I need?
There's no set number.
Some people come for occasional maintenance, while others choose several sessions when working through longer-standing tension.
I'll give you my honest view on what I think would be useful, but there's no obligation to commit to a course of treatments.
We'll work one treatment at a time.
